// THE BREAD SAW
...I am unique!
yeah, yeah, I know, everyone can say that. but I really am one and can even prove it!
well, that's how it is. At the very beginning I have to say that I am not the only unique piece that comes from the Mehne carpentry workshop. We have a few (unique) pieces here: like the Bodnese(e)hstool or the good & evil boards. Each hand flatterer and order helper is unique in itself. We had all been lying in the wood storage area in Mehnes for a long time. It never really got boring here because new types of wood were constantly being added. sometimes big, sometimes small, sometimes crooked, sometimes less straight - but always beautiful. Here everyone has their quirks and can keep them. Every now and then Grandpa Mehne walks past us with a soooo big hammer and taps on our ends so that the worms stay away. It doesn't hurt, it just wakes you up sometimes very rudely. It seems like it was yesterday that Martin and Sylvana chose me for one of their new ideas. How did I know that I was chosen for a new idea? Do you want to know? Well, word quickly got around here that the two of them were always cooking up something new. And the fact that they only chose the most beautiful of us was no secret. I was almost in the middle - I actually thought I was dreaming when it became completely light around me. The sun blinked at me and I was placed on a cart with 4 strong hands and pushed into the workshop. Sylvana started drawing on me with a pencil. It tickled, but I couldn't move because otherwise the strokes would have become crooked. I waited full of curiosity to see what was coming. Martin turned on the saw and cut strips out of me - that's what you call cutting. When I was cut - it's a bit like cutting fingernails - I was made smooth on both sides. Women call this peeling, and I think that's what it felt like. With a lot of noise and a small saw, Sylvana gave me my rough shape. Actually, I already thought I was beautiful, but that was just my opinion. I was now massaged from all sides with lots of different sandpaper. Man, that felt good and felt so soft! Martin looked at it and found it good. I was oiled. now I was allowed to dry. Martin screwed a gate grinding knife between my two shapely ends and I'm done. EXACTLY, I became a bread saw – such a beautiful one!
You will have a lot of fun with me, because I am not only beautiful but I can also do something. I cut big bread, small bread, hard bread, soft bread, actually all bread. And if I ever have a little blemish again, take a scotch tape and rub me off and rub it with oil again and everything will be fine again. If it's a major problem, just call Martin and Sylvana on 07732-3604. they sure help!
