What we have discovered in Spain is a small number of vintage replica deep sea divers helmets the Rolex used in store displays around the world to show off their latest and greatest versions of the Rolex Submariner. The Submariner was first launched at BaselWorld in 1954 and has gone on to be one of the most recognizable watches in history. Every few years Rolex has a tradition of introducing the newest models and upgrades to their line of great watches. The Submariner has had many improvements and has been tested successfully at great depths strapped to the sides of submarines and submersibles to continuously put the watch through is paces constantly increasing its depth and accuracy with new materials and new movements.

These divers helmet displays were different sizes and it seems configurations depending on the store and the space that they could allot to the large size display. The helmets that we discovered in protective grease and shrink like plastic preserved the finish like they were just made yesterday. So if you are a diehard or want to add a really cool discussion piece to a man cave you had better snag these guy quickly because we literally dove deep to manage to secure the few we could ship back to the US with us.

The last picture in the listing shows and inventive little lamp that an individual made from one of the smaller helmets that were generally in the small window displays at some of Rolex’s worldwide network of authorized dealers. If you look closely you will see that inside the helmet is a captive Submariner date model.

The helmets were made using brass, copper, and glass. With the price of copper now I wonder what they would have used to build them today?
