This is a custom, made-to-order mokume gane ring band. Please check my shop announcement for my current production time. Rush orders may be possible- please contact me with your 'need by' date prior to purchasing if it is less than eight weeks in the future.

Mokume gane is an ancient Japanese metalwork technique, by which different types of metal are diffusion welded together. The resulting metal billet is then drilled and rolled out, until a wood-grain pattern emerges. This pattern is through the metal, and is not just a surface treatment.

I cut these rings from a sheet of mokume gane that is backed in argentium sterling silver. The mokume is created from silver and copper- the two metals are in stark contrast to one another. I bring out the reddish tone of the copper by finishing these rings with a brushed finish.

I can also apply a special patina to these rings that will darken up the copper a bit. Just ask for this application during checkout.

As these rings are hand-cut by me, I can create them in any width. This listing is for a 13mm, or 1/2", wide ring. Wider, or narrower, rings can be made- get in touch with your request.

The metals will patina over time. Please note that these patterned rings will have a seam- this is unavoidable. This seam does not detract from the beauty of the ring.

The fourth and fifth photos show these rings as a wedding set. The narrower band is 5mm wide. Please note that this listing is just for the single, 1/2" band.
