Knitting instructions MAIAH balaclava
The MAIAH Balaclava is part of the MAIAH series, which was created by my first baby, my son. When he learned to speak, he called himself “Maiah.” The scarf hat has quickly become a winter basic for us as it keeps the head and neck warm at the same time and can be put on and taken off with a single movement.
The hat is knitted top down in garter stitch. The headpiece is first knitted back and forth on a circular needle, then later closed in the round to knit the scarf in rib stitch. At the end, stitches are knitted out of the face opening to form the edge there in a rib pattern. The Italian cast-off method leaves an elastic edge that hugs the rib pattern and gives it a special elasticity. The instructions are very beginner-friendly including photo tutorials.
